Dragon's Den - Dukinfield & Stalybridge Rotary

  • Stamford Golf Club Huddersfield Road Stalybridge, SK15 3PY (map)

Thread & Butter Collective CIC are delighted to have been invited to pitch our project Threads Weave Stories… A Community Quilt at the Dukinfield & Stalybridge Rotary Dragon’s Den.

This seven-month community project, beginning in April 2026, will bring local people together to create a beautifully crafted hand-stitched quilt celebrating the rich textile heritage of Mossley and the wider Tame Valley. Through a series of free workshops, participants will explore stories of the mills, learn traditional textile skills, and contribute their own stitched square to the finished quilt.

The completed quilt will become a shared community resource, available to schools, libraries and local groups as a creative learning tool exploring the history of the region’s textile industry. It will also form part of the opening heritage exhibition when the historic weaving shed at Woodend Mill is restored and reopened as a community space.

Thread & Butter Collective CIC are raising £300,000 to restore the weaving shed, creating a welcoming place for creativity, learning and community life beside the River Tame and canal corridor.

Funds raised through Dragon’s Den will support materials, tools and equipment for the quilt project. All workshops will be free to attend, with materials provided, and sessions can also be delivered in community settings for groups unable to travel to Woodend Mill.
